Using Humanly as a Professional

Settings -- Business Details

Much of the business details will be populated by the information from your application to become a professional. Other than the legal business or entity name, these details can be updated at any time. To update your legal business or entity name, please reach out to support@humanly.com

Settings -- Connect Zoom

You will need a Zoom account in order to teach on Humanly. Zoom offers a free (Basic) version, which will be sufficient for connecting to Humanly and holding classes with some limitations, including:

Zoom Basic

  • 40-minute maximum for groups larger than 1:1
  • Recordings of sessions will not be available
  • Students will enter the meeting when they join the class

Paid Zoom Subscription

  • Longer meeting times available for groups
  • Recordings of sessions may be available
  • Students will enter a waiting room when they join the class

Once you have your Zoom account, connecting it to Humanly is easy! Click on the “Sign in with Zoom” button.

You’ll be asked to sign into your Zoom account and authorize Humanly to connect to your Zoom account.

At any time, you can click “Sign Out” under the Zoom settings to disconnect your Zoom and Humanly accounts. If your Zoom account is logged out on Humanly unintentionally (for example, this can happen if you log in to another Humanly account), you will be warned when you attempt to access a feature that requires Zoom and you will be prompted to log in again to your Zoom account. If you are disconnected from Zoom, you can't host Humanly classes via Zoom meetings until you connect an account.

Settings -- Compensation

Humanly uses Stripe for secure, on-time payments to professionals.
Note that, to connect to Stripe, you will first need to be enabled as a Humanely-certified professional.

If you have submitted an application to become a professional, you may be able to sign into your professional account, but Humanly administrators will still need to review your application before you are approved to invite students to classes and enroll in Stripe to be paid through Humanly.

Once you have been approved, you can click “Complete Enrollment with Stripe” and you will be taken through the Stripe onboarding process, entering the necessary information to set up payment and to create an account on Stripe.

Creating Classes

Once your professional account is set up, to begin teaching on Humanly, go to the Classes tab. Click “Add new class.”

As you go through the form, you will be guided with tips and steps to create your class. At a minimum, fill in the information for: Title, About this Class, Price Per series or session (or select Free if you do not intend to charge for the class), Category, and Duration. If you’d like, you can schedule the first session or series of the class upon creation. Otherwise, you can skip this step and come back to it later.

Inviting Students

The first way to invite students is to go to the Students tab. Click “Add New.”

The second way to invite students is under the Classes tab. On the far right column of a class, click on the menu icon. From the drop down menu, you can select “Invite Students.”

Using both methods, you will fill in the email addresses of students you would like to invite and select the classes to which you are inviting them. You can add a custom message, as well, if you'd like.

Starting a Class

When it is nearing the time for the class (up to 2 hours before), a link will appear beside your class, saying "Start Class Now." This link will appear on both your class list view and in your detailed class view for the series or session (click on the class title from the list, then select the time from the “Scheduled Times” table).

Clicking on “Start Class Now” will redirect you to the Zoom meeting where your students can join for your class.
